Why only self-help.
Because a studio that takes every genre learns none of them properly, and audio is unforgiving about that.
Self-help is one of the most listened-to categories in publishing, and one of the worst served. The reader is walking, driving, at the gym. The author is usually a coach, speaker or consultant whose book is the front door to a business. And the format is one of the few where the author’s own voice can be the right choice rather than a compromise.
Almost none of that is true of a cookbook, a thriller or a technical manual. A studio serving all of them has to treat your book as a job of a certain length. We’d rather know your shelf well enough to have an opinion about it.
Within self-help, mindset and personal growth is where we’re strongest, and it’s who this site is written for. We also produce for relationships, communication, faith-based writing, practical philosophy, spirituality and inspirational memoir. We turn down workbooks, planners and journals, because audio removes the mechanism those books run on and no amount of production fixes that.
Who runs it
Raymond Ekpo, Founder.
Xuite is deliberately small. You work with the person accountable for the result, and specialists are brought in per book rather than kept on a bench.
Narrators, engineers, proofers and launch support are chosen for the book in front of us, not assigned from whoever is free. It costs more effort per title and it’s the reason we stay narrow.
How we work
Six things we hold to.
Not values in the poster sense. These are the decisions we’ve already made, so you know what you’re agreeing to.
Specialists, not generalists.
One genre, understood properly, beats twelve understood approximately. We read a mindset manuscript differently because it’s the only kind we read.
The book stays yours.
We’re paid once, for work done. We don’t take a share of a book we didn’t write, and we don’t hold rights we’d have to be asked to give back.
Say the difficult thing early.
If a book won’t work in audio, or you shouldn’t narrate it, you hear that before you spend anything. Late honesty is just a refund with extra steps.
The voice is the argument.
In personal growth, who is speaking is part of what’s being said. That’s why we direct author narration instead of quietly steering everyone toward a hired reader.
Launch is part of the job.
We don’t consider a book delivered because a file passed review. It’s delivered when someone who needed it has pressed play.
Work with the principal.
You deal with the person responsible for the outcome, from the first message to release day. Nothing gets handed down.
Tell us about your book.
Send the title, the length, and what you want the audiobook to do for your business. You’ll get a straight answer about fit before anything else.
