Each stage depends on the one before it. Skipping forward is what produces an audiobook that passes review and reaches nobody.
01
Manuscript preparation
Before a word is recorded, the text has to be made ready to be heard. A book written for the eye always contains things the ear cannot follow.
What you send
- Your final manuscript, in Word or a clean PDF
- Any names, places or terms with a pronunciation you care about
- The edition you consider definitive, if more than one exists
What you get back
- An audio-ready script, with visual references resolved
- A pronunciation guide agreed with you before recording
- A note of anything we recommend cutting or rewording for audio
02
Casting and narration
Whether you narrate or someone else does is the single decision that shapes the finished book. We treat it as a decision, not a default.
What you send
- Whether you want to narrate it yourself
- A sample of your speaking voice, if you do
- The audiobooks in your genre whose sound you admire
What you get back
- A straight recommendation on author narration versus casting
- Auditions from matched narrators if we cast
- Directed recording sessions if you narrate, with coaching throughout
03
Production and mastering
The part nobody sees and everybody hears. Retail platforms reject audio that misses spec, and rejections cost weeks.
What you send
- Nothing. This stage is ours.
What you get back
- Edited, proofed audio checked line by line against the manuscript
- Mastering to retail specification for each platform
- Chaptered files, retail sample, and an opening and closing credit
04
Distribution and rights
Where the book goes, and on what terms. This is where most authors give something away without realising it.
What you send
- Your cover artwork and metadata
- Your decision on which platforms you want
What you get back
- Placement across Audible, Spotify, Apple Books, Kobo and library systems
- Your rights, in full. No royalty share and no exclusivity through us
- Accounts in your name, so payments and control stay with you
05
Launch and promotion
A finished audiobook nobody knows about earns nothing. Launch is a stage of the work, not an upsell.
What you send
- Your list, audience or platform, whatever size it is
- Any podcasts, communities or partners you already have a relationship with
What you get back
- Positioning and launch copy written for listeners, not readers
- A review plan for the first weeks after release
- Podcast and platform outreach, and an activation plan for your own audience
A word on timing.
Production time depends on length, on whether you narrate, and on how quickly proofs come back. We give you a schedule in writing before we start, and we tell you early if it slips.
Questions
The things authors ask first.
Short answers. If yours is not here, ask it directly and you will get the same kind of answer.
Can I narrate my own book?
Usually yes, and in mindset and personal growth you often should. Your readers already know your voice from the page and many of them came to the book because of you specifically. What stops most authors is not talent, it is the setup: an untreated room, no direction, and no idea when a take is good enough. We direct the sessions and handle the rest. If your voice genuinely will not carry the book, we tell you before you spend anything.
Do I keep the rights to my audiobook?
Yes. All of them, permanently. We take no royalty share, we require no exclusivity, and retail accounts are set up in your name so payments and control stay with you. We are paid once, for the work we do. This is the single biggest difference between us and a royalty-share arrangement, where a percentage of the book leaves for good in exchange for avoiding a cost upfront.
How long does production take?
It depends on the length of the book, on whether you narrate it, and on how quickly proofs come back to us. Rather than quote an average that would not apply to you, we give you a dated schedule in writing before work starts, and we tell you early if anything slips.
What does it cost?
We quote after we have read the book and understood what you want the audiobook to do. Length, narration route and how much launch support you need all move the number substantially, so a price list would be a guess dressed up as an answer. You will get a real figure, along with an honest view on whether the book belongs in audio at all.
Which platforms will my audiobook be on?
Audible, Spotify, Apple Books, Kobo and library systems, with the exact mix decided by you. Because we do not require exclusivity, you are free to be everywhere at once rather than locked to a single retailer.
My book is a workbook. Can you produce it?
Almost certainly not, and we would rather say so now. Workbooks, planners, journals and exercise-driven programmes run on the page itself. Audio removes the mechanism, the listener has nothing to fill in, and the finished product disappoints everyone. Send it anyway if you are unsure and we will give you a straight answer.
Does my book need to be published already?
It needs to be finished. Most of our authors are already published, often independently, and have simply never made an audio edition. If the manuscript is complete but unpublished, get in touch and we will talk about sequencing.
Do you only work with self-help authors?
Yes. Mindset and personal growth is our centre of gravity, and we also produce for relationships, communication, faith-based writing, practical philosophy, spirituality and inspirational memoir. We do not take cookbooks, fiction or technical titles, because a studio that takes everything learns none of it properly.
